a set of characters recognizable by computers and humans, aka a lot easier to write with than 0101010100000001110010100110001001000100001000100100010010, p.s.i have no idea what i just wrote

It It has another meaning also in Computer Science

It is A standard for assigning numerical values to the set of letters in the Roman alphabet and typographic characters.
