I managed to figure it out and do exactly that..Yes, I have had a bad expirience..but its entirley possible I'm too sensitive...I just dont see why people are so rude when you try to comment/join in on conversation...might not be a bad thing...I spend way to much time here being chatty! Its such a fun site that I'm kinda glad I cant delete...I may take a break and come back at a less sensitive time of the month...haha!

Stableboy chanel, this topic comes up a lot with new users... it really does take something to come here and just be yourself. There are all sorts of people with various personality quirks that make them want to be rude or fight, there's people who never learned basic courtesies, or think that they don't apply to "just a web site", etc.
 
Nobody else can tell you whether or not AB is the right place for you, but there are many wonderful people, and you can make some great friends. If you can learn to ignore the trolls, and not take them personally, that's usually the first major hurdle to long-term enjoyment of AB.

I find the best strategy for me is often to just ignore them. Or make note of it being negatived, because there are lovely anti-trolls out there, too.

Stableboy @Eltinwe: AB is very educational for those who are paying attention. As you've noted, it's challenging to ignore a troll. The brain just screams out "take that jerk down a notch!", and offers up all the self-defense techniques learned over a lifetime.
 
I find that trolls get easier to ignore with regular practice. Because I'm fairly outspoken on a number of "hot button" topics, I'm pretty regularly attacked in comments. Just last night, I learned I am the new "anti-Christ of AB" according to one irate reader.
 
These kinds of comments make my hands want to jump for the keyboard and rip off a snappy comeback... "that guy hasn't seen true sarcasm yet, I shall demonstrate!". But those victories are always hollow and leave a bad taste, in my experience. So the most he'll get from me would probably be an "Ok...". It's becoming easier each month to let it go. He'll be gone soon, and a new round of nutjobs will arise.

APACHEmeansENEMY I know what you mean stableboy...when someone is rude to me all sorts of snappy responses whirl through my head...thankfully, with the exception of once or twice I have been able to hold off until I'm feeling more reasonable..and i have always felt better for it...its really like anykind of fighting...its rarely worth it and often just makes you feel worse than before!

However, your approach to being outspoken is one I tend to appreciate, and I try to keep myself under control particularly on those topics. Ill-fought victories are no victory at all.
