Alas, ignorant passion. Whenever you hear someone say, "All republicans are idiots", he is spouting the learnins of his dear ole pappy.
I take Thomas Jefferson's suggested approach. I read the papers, follow the issues and make decision -- right or wrong -- on critical thinking and information.
Unfortunately I think that most people simply vote along party lines forming their opinions based off of what their favorite pundit managed to splice into a catchy sound bite without actually understanding the issues. Most people are in a state of informed ignorance, they think they know what's going on but truly haven't the slightest idea.
