News: Getting to the Points
Help answer this question below.
All of your questions pre-suppose abject failure for your President. Don't you stand just a chance of looking ridiculous if his entire term of office shows a marked improvement in the lives of most Americans?
It seems that only the rich want, or say they expect, him to fail, and their reasons are pure selfishness.
I'm more of Taoist about it. The leader that is hardly noticed is best. We need to start doing things for ourselves and remember the Presidents job is to protect our country in times of disaster and war. We can't rely on the government to fix things. We are America, dammit. Whatever happened to self reliance and ingenuity? We can't really blame the president because we are too stupid and entitled to do anything for ourselves.
Sounds right to me. 5+
Given that the GOP and the Right Wing Echo Chamber are doing everything they can to prevent President Obama from implementing his desired policies....no deal!
If....increased jobs -- guaranteed second term. Sound right to you now?
.
Didn't think so. You don't have the intellectual honesty to stick to a deal, so why should we do business with you?

Sounds like a plan.
That sounds about right to me. And trust me Obama already knows this.
I do not know Obama can create jobs. But he got elected in a very difficult situation and will be watched every second.
He is under pressure to deliver for sure.
How about " No Recession again... for another chance"... does that sound fair to ask of the Republicans?
Sounds a lot more realistic than the "Contract with America"
Don't really understand how the US is going to get more jobs as long as technology keeps replacing the need for unskilled labor in various industries. And that unskilled labor that is still needed can usually be outsourced to other countries for much cheaper.
People need to go to a tech school or college and learn a skilled trade and stop sitting around with their union buddies whining about it.
Sure, and then we sill just elect Joe Wilson, and everything will be all better. NOT!
No one said we had to be fair to the president.
there are noooooo jobs in uk help over here too

I have absolutely no doubt that such presupposition sounds ridiculous to any liberal. How can the Messiah ever fail?

I have no direct interest, I just can't fail to be amused by the general level of political "debate" in your country. It's more entertaining than most US television shows.

Wow, a few months ago, it was "the stock market is failing because of Obama, get rid of him", now "we are losing jobs", so I guess the next exit strategy will be.....

I'm glad you're enjoying the show Brian. We love being our own government. It's part of what makes this such a great country and it says something about how well it works when one looks at how far we've come and what we've built for ourselves in just 230 years.+6

I have only admiration for your form and style of government. My comment refers only to the quality of political debate on Answerbag, which is all I have to go on, and nobody could describe most the political posturing seen here as being a model of reasoned debate.
This particular question was just one of a very lengthy series of attacks on the President of the United States from this user and some of the comments I have made to him stemmed from my utter shock at having seen him refer to his President as a baboon.

Brian -- one thing you may miss if looking at the U.S. from the outside is that most of the rich in this country are Democrats.
.
I went to school for a time in Denmark and I was genuinely shocked that most people there didn't know that.
.
The reason is that wealth in this country (and it's something I'm very proud of) is, probably more than in most nations on Earth, the result of individual initiative -- it's not something that is simply acquired by being born into the right family.
.
Most of us who have done well after coming from humble beginnings embrace the idea of giving future generations the tools they need to give succeeding a shot.
.
It doesn't come from a guilt-induced need to redistribute the wealth -- although people from Russia like Alexander may perceive it that way. It comes from climbing the ladder of success ourselves, and refusing to pull the ladder up when we're done using it.
