    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The first person to ever fly a glider meant to carry humans was actually an unnamed 10-year-old boy in England in 1849. Sir George Cayley, the inventor of the glider as we know it today, is the first person on record to invent such a device. This 10-year old boy flew Sir Cayley's glider on at least one successful flight.
