Lauren Thompson Oct 20th, 2009 Burning and throbbing in the feet can be an annoying condition that people experience at the end of the day. If pain persists during other parts of the day, a medical condition may be to blame.

    Sweaty Feet

Hot, sweaty feet may cause a burning sensation after being on the feet all day, particularly in overweight people or those who wear uncomfortable footwear, such as high heels.

    Nerve Compression

Nerves around the ankles may be compressed, causing burning and pain in the foot. This is a common disorder for people with weak ankles or ankle injuries.

    Diabetic Neuropathy

Neuropathy is a disorder that causes numbness, pain and discomfort in some individuals, particularly people with diabetes. If burning or pain occurs frequently without apparent cause, get tested for diabetes. Other people can develop neuropathy, such as those addicted to substances or who have vitamin deficiencies.

    Blood Disorders

Pernicious anemia and thrombocytopenia can cause burning and numbness in the feet, though this is less common than other factors.

    Foot Problems

Some people experience a burning sensation when a fungal infection, such as athlete's foot, is present. Plantar warts and calluses also can cause painful burning and throbbing in the foot.
