Chemotherapy is the use of cancer-fighting drugs that weaken or destroy cancer cells. This treatment, often called "chemo," circulates through the entire bloodstream and may cause significant side effects in some people. Radiation, or radiotherapy, is often used following surgery to target and destroy cancer cells that might be left behind after a mastectomy or lumpectomy. Radiation reduces the chance of recurring cancer by 70 percent, according to BreastCancer.org. In cancers that are hormone-receptor-positive, anti-estrogen therapy is used to reduce the amount of estrogen hormones in the body, which tend to make these types of cancer cells grow. The treatment is effective in killing or shrinking these damaging cells. In addition to the treatments listed above, some breast cancer patients choose to pursue complementary treatment that may include acupuncture or holistic medicine. Prostate cancer? I'm 18, I have frequent cramps in my testicles, have trouble getting pee to come out and then to stop (peed pants!) :(

The first reply very nicely covered all the bases for treatment, but I would argue that holistic treatment is not complementary with Radiation or Chemo. Those two therapies cause massive damage to the body's immune system. Holistic treatments rely upon the immune system. Typically people who have had radiation or chemo and then when their cancer doesn't respond to the treatment, then they try holistic treatment, but by then their immune system is so severely compromised the holistic treatment doesn't work.
