Thanks to both of you for the comments and the points.
.
You know who had such a relationship? Comedian Jonathan Winters, believe it or not.
.
He was married to his only wife, Eileen, from 1948 until January 11, 2009, when she passed away. And on the exact date of his 53rd Anniversary, September 11. 2001, GUESS what event overshadowed he and his wife's "celebration?"

Relationships like that don't happen like that these days, wish they did.
by Dibley on October 7th, 2009
It can still happen, Dibley, but "both halves" of a couple must WANT it to happen (more than anything else), and work like Hell to MAKE it happen.
.
Sadly, as you note, not everyone has the dedication and drive that Jonathan & Eileen Winters did, and that's what is WRONG with many relationships today, and why 2 out of 3 marriages end in divorce.
.
After so many years, couples "forget" WHY they got married.
