Kirbysalesman Oct 2nd, 2009 The Kirby Sentria Vacuum and Shampooer are priced on the box and are aproximately 1600 plus tax. The salesman or Woman only makes commission above that. Sure you can get it cheaper than they probably sold it to you for but if you respected them and they did a good job showing you the machine dont you think they deserve a paycheck ? Look, you can get your car or house cheaper somewhere too. sales is about money. A car is overpriced so they can cut some off and still make a paycheck. The same with Kirby. I sell them and have been for over a year and i am fair and upfront with my customers. They all know i am on comission. Sometimes if i feel they really want and need it but cant afford it i will take a loss and help them out. But the price is the price. People need to get their facts straight before they assume to have inside knowledge of something. I am a manager in Knoxville Tn and will gladly answer anyones concerns....

sjdebbie Dec 4th, 2008 I recently has a demonstration at my house on Nov 2, 2008 and the sales person wanted $ 2295 for the Kirby Sentria, with the attachments, shampoo system. As a sales scheme, he offered to take the Kirby vacuum box to recycle it. I later found out from my friend who kept her box that the suggested retail price were as follows:

Kirby Sentria and attachments $ 1,349.50
    Carpet Shampoo System $ 179.50
    Zippbrush $ 59.50
    Floor care system $ 109.50
    Turbo Accessory system $ 94.50

I only bought the shampoo system and the vacuum and was charged $ 2295. I am in dispute now the sales office called San Jose Unlimited at 780 Montague Expressway, # 704, San Jose, CA 95131. 408-433-9626.

As of today 12/4/08 I am having a difficult time reaching and faxing documents over.

nfntjy Mar 19th, 2007 According to the side of the box, the basic package that is sold in the in-home demonstrations is $1995.

I used to sell these things door to door. We would start out at $1999. We would often sell them for as low as $999 (and sometimes even lower).

    mommajo Sep 11th, 2008 Don't pay more than $1,000.

They always indicate the price is around 2,000 and that they are giving you a great deal, sacrificing to give it to you for say $1,200 - $1,300 however the truth is when pushed they often go to around $1,000.

We just had a saleslady here this week!

Don't believe the lie that the lifetime - rebuild plan is FREE (like we did) ask for the warranty papers before purchasing and look over carefully. Currently the rebuild charge is $175 plus shipping.

ltmoor Mar 27th, 2009 sjdebbie.....Recently, I purchased a Kirby vacuum and shampoo system. From the information your friend provided I paid way too much. Now I am disputing the price with a distributor in WA.

Did you get from your friend a pic of the box showing the retail price of the vacuum cleaner? I looking for physical proof.

At this point I am trying to get the distributor to give me an itemized receipt for my home insurance. I will let you know what success I have, if you are interested. Also, you may want to check into CA laws. The distributor may have broken a law on false advertising.

I want the cleaner and don't mind it being pricey. I just want to pay a fair price.

keeganspire Feb 28th, 2010 OK people..... I recently saw an ad in the paper. It said "Hey you, yeah you, want a job? $2500/month" So I called it, and got in for an interview. At the interview, it was very professional, and sounded great. They said it was "sales", and that all training was provided. The end of that night, I got a call from the company, and they said I scored highest on the "aptitude test" and that I could start training the next day, but still wouldnt tell me what the sales was in.
The next day, I found out it was selling the Kirby Sentria. They said 60 appointments a month were pre-set up. I did the week long training, and set out for my first appointment. Turns out, after driving 15 hours to the city in which the "Appointments" were set up, there were no pre-booked appointments at all, it was all door to door sales.

They start the price at $2799. Being as that price is huge, they offer you $200 off, for your old vacuum. They state they are giving your old vacuum to charity. This is lie #1. They actually take your old vacuum to a local vacuum store and sell it from $60-$600.

If $2599, is too much for you still, they call the office and say "Can we do something extra special, for the extra special customer?" And the office replies back that they will actually give you $400 off you old vacuum and offer you 0 down and anywhere from $119-$199/month. And everyone is approved, even with bad credit. Now if $2399 is still too much, they call the office again, and come back with $2199.

They will go as low as $1899, working the office and the customer. And as low as $0 down and $100/month over 5 years. Well guess what? $100/month over 5 years is $6000!!!!

They prey upon trailer parks, and senior communities. They are dressed very professional, and if their manners are good, they may sell you. Let me give you a break down in price.

The Kirby Sentria sells for $2799, but this is lie #2, the salesperson cannot sell it for this, this is the infomercial. The highest they can sell it for is $2599. So the $200 off for your old vacuum is nothing less then a scam. Ok, here we go

$2599 is the price of sale.
$550 commision goes to the salesperson, know as an "Independant Dealer"
$450 commision goes to his manager, know as a "Volume Distributor Dealer"
$150 commision goes to the manager's manager, known as a "Senior Dealer"
$100 commision goes to the office manager, know as a "Senior Volume Distributor"
$100 commision goes to the kirby rep in the office
$250 commision goes to the owner of the company in which is selling the kirby's.
and.....the grand total.......Kirby is made in Cleaveland Ohio. The factory needs to get $699 per kirby, the rest is commision. Being as it is only available in home sales, you are stuck paying $1899 and up. They are definatly a great product. I would say probably the best on the market, but not worth $1899-$2599. They take $1600 in commision to pay their staff. I think that is "highway robbery" and am as of today, resigning my position. Good luck consumers.
They would probably kill me if they found out I posted this. Remember they sell 60,000 kirby's per month worldwide. That is $96,000,000.00 per month in commisions for the staff. That is unbelievable! Dont get scammed. Surely, you must be able to buy one direct from the factory. Not sure if you can, they wouldnt asnwer that question for me, but surely you must be able to. Sales is over for me. Please be careful.

PS...These are Canadian prices I speak of. We were based out of BC.
