Why do many amusement park rides have a height restriction? Why not an age restriction instead, to help the vertically-challenged dwarves?

    The height versus age restrictions are due to the safety devices used. The restraint systems may not work as designed on people under a certain height or weight.

    The purpose of the restriction is safety -- not depriving a certain age person from riding the ride. Size is the deciding factor on whether a person may safely enjoy a ride.
