No, and I don't think anyone should be. I don't want to be preachy, but people who are offended by videogames are just pathetic people looking for something to complain about. I mean, it's not like they have to play them, or buy them for their kids for that matter.
No, If that's what people like to play. Better to rape , kill and steal in a game than in real life.
Not at all. They are entertaining and addictive
No, I am entertained by the Grand Theft Auto series.
People say what a terrible influence games like that are on society... I personally am not offend by them I find them fun. However if someone is dumb enough to be influenced but such an unrealistic game they deserve to be locked up.
if you immerse yourself in a lifestyle, albeit a virtual lifestyle, unconsciously you begin to absorb its values. Ask yourself: does these games make me grow as a person, do they teach me values that are helpful for my community? what do they teach me about attitudes to the law? to women?
If I had to consider all these, then, in relation to Grand Theft Auto does offend me, because it is antisocial.
The Grand Theft Auto series is the best thing that has happened to the world!!!!!!!!!!! Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the greatest GTA game ever made. The violence, the sex, the gore, the guns, the locations, the fights, the vehicles, the missions, the characters, the soundtracks, everything about those games are so addicting. I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for the Grand Theft Auto series. People who are trying to ban the GTA series...they don't have a life. If someone's offended by the GTA series, or any videogame, they should leave it alone and not play it. Btw, does anyone else know if they're going to make another one after Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?
Nope. Why should i be? o_o
Yes, there isnt enough blood and violence.
I love GTA, I'm planing to by a PS3 just to play GTA4. I just love everything about it, GTA is the reason I own a PS2. I can't wait to play it.
meh, find them pretty boring to be honest..
No. People are too easily offended. Get over it!
They come with adequate warning so no.
No cause I think the GTA series lets you release your anger. Works for me!(I'm not supposed to play yet I'm under age lol!)
No I love the games message.
no because was fun to steal the cars and shot the people and cops too
Absolutely not. I love the GTA games. Can't wait for # 4 in April.
No,the people who think the world is going to change because of a computer game offend me more.
Am I offended by the GTA series? not really. Why? Bcoz the game to me is just a game. I do not get addicted to any. The only reason i play games is bcoz i have nothing better today at that specific time. So if ppl call me outside, i would definately go and chill with friends for couple of hours instead of sitting at home and driving like nuts in the game world.
no, i play them really often...
No. I think the people that are offended are usually the ones that cant control what their kids do (in my opinion). And if a child wants to imitate a video game anyways, they should already the difference between right and wrong from their parents or they just have a condition that needs to be addressed.
Nopers.
nope... I'm making games in college... they aren't offensive to me, and they shouldn't be offensive to anyone. they don't have to buy them
no, however these are clearly not for children. I wouldn't want my kid to pick up prostitutes, have sex with them, then kill them to get the money back. That's just one of the many things you can do on the 4th one.
amen brother or sister it is a great way to learn about cars like how to avoid a roll over and it has been proven that violent games are better on people and they also teach hand eye coordination
GTA rocks!!!!!!
No.
No. GTA is one of my favorite games and if people have a problem with the violence, then don't play it. It's as simple as that. No one is forcing you to watch and play.
no its a fun game
no not at all its only a bit of fun and its not real. any1 that is offended by them i have some advice for u, DONT PLAY THEM OR BUY THEM!!!!!
No I am not offended by by the GTA series. There have been times where I disagreed with somthing that was said but other then that I still love em. But either way I think a game like this shouls only be played our watched by people that are mature and there should be no child in site.
no they are hottest.
Not offended. The ratings are there for a reason - much furore is made about minors having access to games like this but that is down to individual parents. The games are stylish, well-designed and most of all, fun
Not in the least, I rather enjoy playing as a matter of fact. It's one of the few games on the market that combine many types of game play, from driving, flying, swimming, biking...and on and on to some social skills as well. Sure there's murder and mayhem, but just like in the "real" world, you're punished for some of it. It's not exactly a game that small kids ought to play, but I think an older teen can handle it. It's no worse than what's available on Tv. If parents don't think it's appropriate, they don't have to buy it for their kids or allow it to be played.
Yes, because I've heard that in that game they have prostitutes and that is cruel and demeaning toward females. I am a hardcore feminist and do NOT tolerate anything sexist.
No never, Even i like it. This is a fantastic series.
i get bored after 10 missions.
its not as good as the star wars games !!
I am not offended by the games themselves. I am offended by people who buy them for young children. They are rated mature for a reason, and no one under 18 should be playing them. For those old enough though I think they can be fun. I'm not a fan of that kind of game but I played one once for a little while and it was interesting enough.
i have to say ive played gta3 and san andres and gta4 and i have to say its ur own opinion cuz u arent being forced to play it i perssionly like it me and my friends get a gang together hold up buildings kill some drug addicts and run away in the car so i think thast game is cool all crime games did well but u dont have to play it if it offends u
What! How? It's a video game.
No I like the comments the cops have. So sarcasticly true in my opinion.
I have several games in the series so I'll state that in the interest of disclosure.
Not at all. It's a game. If you get pretty wound up over a game, try to relax. It's not real. I can certainly understand not allowing young children to play because there is a strong violent content, but if a player is mature enough to know right from wrong, what's the harm?
yes, and i think it's sad that they exploit the game's raunchiness to promote it.
gta is the best game ever i luv all gta games
No its really just a game you don't have to play it or buy it if you feel offended by the game.
Those who have system ....i think they might have played atleast one of the GTA version........i really love to play GTA !!!!
Not really. It just makes me think when I see my brother playing it, there's no point in it anyways and they just like hitting people with their cars. So weird.
Yes, how dare they keep cloning the same crap game and calling it "Five Star", and "Amazing". That's what offends me.
No. It is only a game. It should not be thought of as "real life"
No. What offends me is those who condemn the game instead of what goes on in real life, and those who think that the game has a bad influence on the players that makes them do bad stuff in real life should probably pay attention to their children once in a while, instead of criticizing the contents of their games.
Also, I'd love to point out that what small action has been taken to further the condemnation of Grand Theft Auto and other games has been the result of sporadic immaturity, self righteous fits and most of all, complete ignorance. Anybody who is familiar with the Hot Coffee Incident knows what I'm on about.
So. Having a healthy relationship with a girl, buying her flowers, taking her to the movies and taking care of her results in a reward for the player; a minigame where you make love to her. (Which was taken out as a function from the game, but may be ''unlocked''.)
And er, it was wrong. Oh so wrong. But you can beat the crap out of prostitutes, steal their money, kill people, deal drugs and nobody says anything. God of War has a sex minigame, where you bang these women and ditch them, it's a lot less respectful then the one in GTA actually. Oh yeah, and you control a protagonist who murdered his wife and child. It was just that sex part that everyone didn't like. People are offended with no goddamned legitimate values whatsoever to offer. It doesn't matter what goes on, we just don't want to SEE it. It's like if I had a thirteen year old daughter and said to her; I don't care who you get fucked by, just don't dress like that.
The GTA sex game could have only been obtained through the genuine relationship option the game offered.
Not only does that offend me, but it infuriates me.
If games really did influence people as much as all the bubble people who don't even know where the fuck the Start button is say they do, do you have ANY idea just how bad our society would be, based on their theoretic accusations? A LOT of people play games, most people can know the line between reality and fantasy, and aside from fashion statements and language issues, I don't think it affects much of anyone, not anymore then most hobbies. Sure cospelay is weird, but it's harmless.
Video games are great for relieving tension and stress, many of them hold grand artistic value, and recently many of them dabble in history, philosophy and theology, you can actually OMFG learn something. Le gasp.
I'm thinking that people who use gaming as a muse for social destruction probably have a serious problem, and if they didn't play games, then they would have shot down a bunch of people anyways, but we would have blamed it on something else entirely.
Grand Theft Auto does not offend me, even though it's not my kind of game. In fact, I appreciate and admire the sandbox genre it has created, and how many other game developers have taken this as a cue to gaming's evolution.
Those who condemn gaming and have never played a single one are the ones who offend me the most, when they blame the scone of society on fictional people and entertainment, those who don't realize that more then half of our Western world actually plays them, all those buggers who still wave their Bibles around going OMG CASTLEVANIA HAS A NAKED WOMEN WITH BAT WINGS OMG OMG OMG.
It's not because they never get any that they have to take it out on everyone else.
It's not a video game's job to teach children about right and wrong, the distinction between fantasy and reality or proper social conduct.
To blame this game, and other games with violent or mature content, then you have to blame every single action movie, too, and nobody does that.
And to further my point about misplaced influence, I doubt terrorists play video games.
We should look at what goes on in real life, around you and overseas, instead of pointing the finger with nothing to back it up.

alright! pathetic fools!
by Constel on February 8th, 2007
Yes, I do say "pathetic" a lot now that I think about it.

Hmm, I'm better at dancing for joy, but I can't do that right now cause I'm in a library.
by Talimze wins the prize on February 8th, 2007
-2 not because I don't agree with your answer, but because you proceeded to belittle my opinion before I could even give it by calling me pathetic. I'm pathetic for caring about the values that my children are learning. Pathetic for caring about raising children who respect the law rather than find joy in breaking it. Nobody is born a criminal or violent, they become that way through various influences, violent video games is one of them. If I can prevent a lot of the exposure for my kids... I will.
by JAMMco... its complicated... on April 20th, 2007
To respond to this, I address you to the last sentence of my answer.
by Talimze wins the prize on April 20th, 2007
The very fact that I am offended by it is the very thing that keeps me from buying it for my children. Being offended by it is not a bad thing... it is simply a result of my moral stance and my perceived obligations to my children. Since being offended is not a bad thing, it shouldn't be labeled as pathetic.
by JAMMco... its complicated... on April 20th, 2007
Oh, whoa. I thought I had said "people who protest videogames are pathetic." Wow, that's a big difference...
by Talimze wins the prize on April 20th, 2007
I agree with that sentiment, I think people who protest video games are actually giving it more attention than if they didn't protest it, you know? Thanks for the clarification, points back.
by JAMMco... its complicated... on April 20th, 2007
Parents don't buy video games for their children, they buy them themselves! My 7 year old cousin buys a package of 5 or 6 video games' dvds every time he goes out!
by Boycott on July 16th, 2008
Yeah well, whose fault is that?
by Talimze wins the prize on July 17th, 2008
Well i can't tell if it's anyone's fault. Somehow i agree with you, the world is changed. Nowadays 7 or 8 year old children are more mature than their parents when they were in their 20s or 30s!
by Boycott on July 18th, 2008
Yes, that's true in some ways I suppose. Also, video games aren't just toys for children anymore. In fact, they've never been just toys for children. People need to understand that about video games, because if they think they are just kids' toys, of course they're going to freak out when there's sex and violence in them.
by Talimze wins the prize on July 18th, 2008
Boycut's right o.o I was playing with like, lil kis in h park (Yeah, that's my fun, even at 14 year old xD They're just cuuuute!) But some like, eight years oldid was like....swearing o.o It's not the fault of Videogames, it's it's educaton! D:
by Constel on July 19th, 2008
100% agreed and That is one of the greatest game I ever played.
by Henderson on November 10th, 2008
Yes it is true that it is just a video game, but it can also be offensive because they really didn't need to put that material in the game.
by ilovemybabyboy on July 10th, 2009
Nobody needs to do anything with video games. Society could proceed without them. However, they can put whatever they want in them.
by Talimze wins the prize on July 10th, 2009
You preachin to the quior, talimze. There's nothing wrong with providing people with entertainment, not to mention that Rockstar re-wrote the book on video game design with their series.
