News: Fix for answers that wouldn't save

I thought I had a bad video card so I replaced it. I am still having a problem with the screen not working. I have tried a new monitor, and cables. The fans are working fine so I don't think its a heat issue. Any suggestions?

G_tech Nov 24th, 2008 open PC back up, just be sure that you take it to a area that has no carpet.
lay PC flat on its back(motherboard side down) also if you don't have a static strap be sure and ground yourself to case with one arm on case at all times.
now take video card back out and use canned air to clean inside system really good, (fans, motherboard, ram, vents etc. be sure and not touch brass part of card, when putting back in place be sure it is firmly plugged back in and screwed down, also just check ribbons etc to be sure all is tight in general.
lastly blow all lose dust out of case.
check all cords closely that you are putting back as you hook PC back up, be sure each is firmly plugged back in(any that have screws on them , tighten up)

there is always a chance that card could be loose, dust under card on brass connection, or even a loose connection on back etc, doesn't take much.
