It depends a lot on what type of video. Here are some things that can help:
-update video driver
-only run what is necessary (shutdown unnecessary processes)
-some laptops allow you to upgrade/install a new video card
-use a different codec
-if this is flash video, try a different browser or update your flash (version 10 is out)
-if the video is actually damaged, you may be SOL or you might try repairing it...
