My monitor has slightly diagonal lines on it, I just got it today, and they won't go away. The brightness is 0 and the screen is still very bright. What is the problem?

    Sounds like it is a CRT monitor, and the flyback blanking is not working.

    You have a dud. If it has a guarantee, return it.

    Contact the store where you bought it, I am sure you are not the only person that bought a monitor with this same problem. They should know what to do to help you out.
    Have you tried to adjust the screen using the menu button under the screen. Hit menu, then use the - or + signs to take you to the correct settings. Then hit the select button, to make your adjustments. I hope this helps. But I would call the store first. Good Luck
