... Jan 1st, 2007 That something under the bed would get me soon after my parents closed the door to my bedroom. I used to jump into the bed instead of walk up and climb in so "the thing" wouldn't grab my ankle and pull me under. Now I know there are scarier things under my bed like junk, spiderwebs and dust!

I used to have terrible nightmares about reaching out for things and never quite being able to reach them. I never slept for days before examinations just learning my work parrot fashion .
I was even afraid of failing eye tests and I think this is why I have a phobia about opticians to this day.

Empress of Everything Ever Jan 6th, 2007 That I would fall off a bridge or pier into the water, this extended even onto the diving board as well - even though I was a competent swimmer and jumped off piers and bridges and diving boards to get into the water...but I was still fearful to the point that even today I cannot walk over a bridge near the edge or a pier, I must walk down the centre or as near the centre as I can manage.

sssherri Jan 6th, 2007 When I was small my cousin told me a tale about a maniac that broke into a girls home. This girl's dog always slept under her bed. She heard noises during the night & would put her hand down under the bed to pet her dog, to make sure everything was alright. The dog would lick her hand. In the morning she got up & called the dog. He didn't come out. She looked under the bed & there was the maniac. He'd eaten the dog & had been licking her hand all night.
I never can sleep with my hand over the edge of the bed!

Sandor Jan 3rd, 2007 Do you mean what was my most illogical fear, or what was by greatest fear that would fall into the illogical category?

My most illogical fear was that doors would eat me. I looked at doors head on, and the knobs on each side looked like eyes and the metal thing that forms the closing/locking mechanism looked like a tongue.

A close second was the fear that there was a camera in the shower head.

But those weren't really fears, they were fantasies that I didn't really take seriously, I guess. I didn't really have any irrational fears. All my fears were all too reasonable. Well, death and mutilation were pretty much it actually.

da_boggles Jan 27th, 2007 When I was four I slept with my mom in a Queen sized bed. Her feet were a lot closer to the bottom than mine were so I was afraid that a monster would grab her and pull her under.

When I went the the baby sitter and played in the playroom by myself I was afraid "the blue man" would come out of the closet. I don't know what I thought he was going to do but it was a freaky thought anyway.

Both of these fears consisted of a "blue man" I saw in a cartoon. Isn't that strange?

BrokeDog Jan 3rd, 2007 The only thing I can remember was when I was in about 5th grade, there was a rapist running around grabbing boys and throwing them into his backseat and raping them. It was the first time I had even been told that boys could be raped, and it scared me to death. Not sure if it was illogical, but it scared me.

kyannie72 Jan 3rd, 2007 My parents stored the emergency fire ladder under my bed when I was little. And every night I would dream that the house would catch on fire and nobody could get to my room to use the ladder so they (my parents and baby brothers) would all die. Also, for the longest time I hated the color of red because that was the color of the flame on the box. Ironically, red is now one of my fav colors.
